Osama Bin Laden is Dead, was Using the Code Word Geronimo in Poor Taste?
“Geronimo”. The head of Native American affairs has written statements that using this code word was a derogatory prejudice toward the Native American communities since Geronimo was a hero to them. As one spokesman said, that finding out this fact that this name was used ” Geronimo” was s a crushing blow to the 77 Native Americans that have died in the war on terror since 2001, and to Native American children. In the old war movies shouting the word “Geronimo” was used by marines to go in with everything they had to accomplish a mission. John Wayne used this term a lot in his movies, and seemingly it stuck. The term Gung Ho was used as well in movies involving war heroics. Since Osama Bin Laden was an enemy to all Americans, including Native Americans, maybe it was in fact a poor choice of words. But, the meaning I am sure was the same, and that was to go in and accomplish the mission with intensity and force. And, this is the way that the historic journals have written about the style
