OS9 and Airport, does it work in todays world?

Hello all, it’s been a while since I last visited here. Hi to Duane if you’re still around. Last week I finally won an old Airport card compatible with my 466MHz Clamshell. I’m still running OS9.2.2 and I am trying to connect to a wireless Netgear box but not having any luck so far. Every time I try entering the password for the Netgear box it fails (yes, I have the correct password). I notice that my Airport card picks up no decent signal from said box, occasionally it picks up a signal from other wireless boxes in houses nearby so I know that the Airport card is working, but the signal strength is always poor and intermittent. I live in a very normal street, there are no strong electicral goods nearby and I have tried the iBook in different locations. I guess I am looking for an idiots guide to how to use the Airport. I have been through the Help menu on the computer itself to no avail, and am searching via Google for ideas now. As ever, this place is always the best for help. I have
