If someone had asked me, I would have said something like: Well, I guess the calcium from your diet just deposits into the shape of the bones, controlled by something called bone cells. That is, I suppose that individual bone cells take in a lot of calcium, and become your skeleton. There is a little bit of truth to this guess, but mostly it would be wrong!
