One young lady is transferred from her specialty to the Supply department to apparently clean bathrooms and bus tables. What happened there?
A. Traditionally when a junior Sailor reports to a ship, they are temporarily assigned to Supply Department to supplement that staff. In addition to other important tasks, Supply Department prepares 4 meals every day underway to about 5000 Sailors on a carrier. Without the support of these junior Sailors, the department could not sustain the manpower necessary to feed the crew. In general, the temporarily assigned Sailors are encouraged to work toward earning shipboard and career focused qualifications during this assignment.
