One time when I tried to switch desktops my system seemed to hang or slow down for several minutes while it switched desktops. Whats going on?
Some rare programs with high priorities or CPU hogging tendencies can cause this to happen. This has only been seen when running one particular type of DOS program, in a DOS Window, that does lots of keyboard polling and mouse polling. If this happens to you try adjusting the DOS properties to improve the DOS program’s operation. In the mean time, if you do experience a hang-up in desktop switching you can kill the Status Line (which handles desktop switching) by activating CAD Commander (Ctrl+Alt+Del), choosing Additional functions, then using the “Process, OS/2 command prompt” option. Then type “CCKILL CADCSTAT.EXE”. Then type “Exit” and press ESC to return to the WPS desktop. You can now safely restart the Status Line, although we’d recommend you modify the DOS applications settings before switching desktops again. In order to perform the “CCKILL CADCSTAT.EXE” function requires CCKILL.EXE dates January 8, 1998. If you do not have this version (or a later version) please see the CAD
