Once a fox has outwitted the hounds by ‘going to ground’ surely it would be the decent thing to concede defeat?
A. Terrier work is not a sport, but it is an important part of the pest control service provided free of charge by hunts. Once a fox has run to ground it is for the farmer to decide whether it is dug out and humanely destroyed. ( MFHA Rules ) In some cases, farmers demand this and in other cases they forbid it.
