Once a court issues a child support order, can the amount of support be modified?
Yes, however the court will not grant the request for modification unless there has been a significant change in circumstances since the last child support order was entered which would justify the modification. Examples of a significant change in circumstances may be: a substantial increase in the payor’s income, a substantial change in the needs of the children or the emancipation of one or more of the children.
