On the January 2005 effective date for TB603, does my finished-goods inventory (or my retail customers’ inventory) manufactured and shipped before the effective date need to be destroyed?
No. The new standard will apply only to products made after the date on which the standard goes into effect, and not to products sold after the effective date. So, finished mattresses and foundations merchandise made before the standard goes into effect may be sold after the effective date. The Bureau is sensitive to inventory management issues for products manufactured prior to the effective date and will allow the pipeline to be cleared.
