An R4 board is a form C relay (also know as a changeover relay). The R4 board has a N/O and a N/C contact. This board is only available on the 2408 and 2404 (R4 board is to large to fit in a 2416). An R2 board is a form a relay, which has a N/O contact. This board is available on the 2416, 2408 and 2404.
