Olympus has posted a firmware update for my camera that mentions microSDHC media. Do I need it?
Olympus recommends applying camera firmware updates whenever they are available. Updating to version 1.1 provides the following benefits: • Adds support for recording movies on 4GB and larger microSDHC cards. The original firmware supports recording movies only to microSD cards (2GB and smaller). • Extends the maximum continuous recording time of movies shot with VGA resolution and the 30 fps frame rate when using Type M+ and Type H xD-Picture Card media. With the new firmware, it is possible to record a single clip up to the card capacity, which is approximately 9 minutes for a 1GB card and 18 minutes for a 2GB card. If movies have already been recorded with the original firmware (1.0) on a 4GB or larger microSDHC card, the card must be formatted before it can be used with the new firmware. Back up the contents of the card to a computer or other device. Then, format the card in the camera using the FORMAT function. Formatting cards deletes all data stored on the cards, including image
