Olympus advertises that the Stylus 710 is weatherproof. How does Olympus define weatherproof?
Olympus’ weatherproof cameras feature protection from inclement weather equivalent to the IEC Standard publication 529 IPX4. The camera will not be damaged by water splashed from any direction. The camera can be used outdoors in adverse weather conditions. It will resist water, dust and snow. Please note that Olympus cameras described as weatherproof are not waterproof and should not be immersed in water. Olympus will not assume responsibility for any damage caused by water getting inside the camera as a result of misuse. Also, the rechargeable battery and other camera accessories are not weatherproof. Care should be taken when using accessories.
