Oh WOW…. honestly I have not bothered reading all of these edits … way too confusing lol… Here is the information I was given by an answerer on here. HOWEVER, I do not have any evidence based literature for you….I give you this information without trying to get into a debate about whether or not it is ok to add cereal to a bottle. I was like you and (especially with my swallowing knowledge) could not understand how a liquid could block the airways. I was told that it is not going down that is the issue. But when the cereal sits in the stomach it solidifies to much more of an extent and if the baby spits up, it can then become a choking hazard or it can be breathed in by the baby. I can’t understand how that would make it ok for a reflux baby though…I mean they are the ones most at risk of spitting this potentially solidified formula/cereal up.
