On September 3, 1944 the eight prisoners are sent to the concentration camp at Auschwitz, Poland. September 6, 1944, they arrive in Auschwitz and several weeks later Hermann van Pels dies. Edith Frank dies at Auschwitz-Birkenau on January 6, 1945. Anne and Margot are sent to Bergen-Belsen, in October 1944.
