Speaking for myself and other teachers I work with it is much more work to be absent than to be here due to the amount of effort required to get things ready for a sub. Since chances are slim to none that I will get a substitute who has a clue about Spanish, I put considerable effort into finding things that are relevant, require the use of at least some brain cell, but yet can be accomplished without help from the substitutes. Therefore, it is extremely aggravating to return and find out that the sub did not follow the extensive lesson plans left for them.
