Speaking for myself and other teachers I work with it is much more work to be absent than to be here due to the amount of effort required to get things ready for a sub. Since chances are slim to none that I will get a substitute who has a clue about Spanish, I put considerable effort into finding things that are relevant, require the use of at least some brain cell, but yet can be accomplished without help from the substitutes.
