A: When I first went glitch-hunting, my name gave me two varieties of ‘M (level 0 and level 80) but only the ghost MissingNo because of the “y” in the 5th slot of my name. As a result, I originally thought that all MissingNos looked like the ghost. It was only when I purchased a used copy of Pokemon Red and used a different name that I ever saw the pixel MissingNo. In my stories and artwork, I usually portray MissingNo as the ghost to differentiate between ‘M and MissingNo – ordinarily they would be indistinguishable from one another. By making only ‘M the pixel form, it’s easier to set him apart from the other glitches. Additionally, I think this adds variety to my story (it would be more difficult to tell which glitch was speaking if I referred to the “pixel-patterened glitch”).
