My sole proprietorship will not be affected by Obama’s plans. And because I am single I would not have an immediate benefit from McCain’s plans (some of his large tax credits would go immediately to married couples but would not be granted in full to single parents or to singles without children until 2016). But I am also the founder and CEO or a large nonprofit that would be affected by Obama’s tax proposals because of an increase in payroll taxes. Nonprofits, from what I can see might be hit the hardest by Obama’s plans. While they typically are tax exempt, increased payroll taxes means less money for those that they help. For women this is big because the vast majority of all social service nonprofits are founded and run by women. Also, under the Bush administration changes in the law have redefined the services of interns and volunteers.
