Nylon is a slippery material and although it’s stable in 3-strand form, it will unravel easily if the ends are not whipped, taped or otherwise secured. One trick for cutting it neatly is to tape the spot you want to cut first, and then cut in the middle of the tape. Then you will automatically have two taped ends.
