Cosmology What does the GUT-CQM say about cosmology? CQM predicts that just as the presence of matter contracts spacetime, the emission of radiation expands it. Entropy is a reflection of this. CQM gets credit for predicting the accelerating expansion of the universe that has been observed recently. Mainstream cosmologists today refer to a “dark energy” which is causing this; CQM explains this directly in terms of the conversion of matter to energy. The CQM universe oscillates in size between 300 billion and 2 trillion light years in diameter with a cycle length of about a trillion years. The universe is currently at the beginning of an 500 billion year expansion period. The universe may be lopsided with respect to its matter-energy distribution. This results in the interesting predictions that stars can evolve during the contraction phase of the universe.
