Now that Pennsylvania has joined the ranks of 47 other states, plus the District of Columbia1, that regulate professional counselors who practice outside the school setting, many professional counselors are questioning the value of board certification. Rehab counselors may think that the LPC state license substitutes for the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification’s CRC board certification, for example. But this is not the case.
