Not all providers will be ready to begin using NYSIIS January 1, 2008. Are provisions being made to defer start up by some providers until a later date?
• Public Health Law Section 2168 specifies an “orderly implementation and operation of the registry.” Regulations have been drafted to provide details to satisfy this requirement of the law. Training will occur regionally across the State between January and July 2008. The target implementation date for providers to begin actively reporting to NYSIIS will be approximately one month after interactive training has been offered in their particular region. Although the initial start date for reporting will be delayed, all immunizations administered after January 1, 2008 and all immunization histories will still be required to be reported eventually into the system.
