New to apartment living….how can I reduce my heating bill??

If your windows are crappy and your apartment is poorly insulated there isn’t much you can do that wouldn’t be extreme. The easiest thing would probably be to get some duct tape and go to each window and where ever you feel a draft from the closed window cover the hole with duct tape. On the main door check how it seals on the bottom, usually that seal wears out pretty fast and is often the biggest leak, also check around the rest of the door to see if it seals well. Heat only the rooms you use. Maybe heat only your bedroom and keep the bedroom door closed at all times, and if you need to go to the kitchen do so quickly and then go back to your room. Beyond that all you can do is replace your windows and better insulate the walls, or take blankets and cover the windows with them, the entire opening, and over that put a layer of cardboard and then secure all that to the window with duct tape.
