Network Rail say the changes being proposed in line with independent Pensions Commission findings. Is this true?
No! For example, the Commission said it would be desirable if there was no qualifying period for membership of the RPS. As you know this is something that Network Rail refuses to do. Regretfully, this means, that many of you need to wait for five years before you have the chance to join the RPS. In any event, the findings of the Commission were recommendations; subject to negotiation with your union. Your Reps believe that Network Rail is using this an excuse to reduce costs.
