name speaker coming to campus: Who will it be?
By Robb Murray, Free Press Staff Writer [published in The Free Press, Mankato, MN] MANKATO — From novelists Kurt Vonnegut and Salman Rushdie to Miracle on Ice goaltender Jim Craig, the list of eight potential lecturers at Minnesota State University this spring is diverse. One of them will be here, though. All that’s left to do is hear what the students and faculty have to say. Each year the Student Leadership Development and Service Learning department brings a major speaker to campus. This year, after an internal process that narrowed the field, the final eight choices have been determined. One of the following will come to campus in March or April to deliver a lecture: * Robert Siegal, editor in chief of the popular humor magazine “The Onion.” Siegal is also one of the writers behind an upcoming movie based on the unique world view embodied in “The Onion” each week. * Kurt Vonnegut, author of several novels including “Breakfast of Champions,” “Slaughterhouse Five” and “Bluebeard.” He
