“They” might be in general. But Alex on Mac OS X is amazing. If you’ve heard Apple’s VoiceOver in the iPod Shuffle say song names in English, you’re heard Alex. He’s also on every Mac OS X Leopard system (and now Snow Leopard), but many customers never use him. Apple has developed excellent text-to-speech technology that is easy to understand, even on a fast moving bicycle with an earbud feeding you interval timings. Plus, as an added bonus, you can adjust how fast he talks.
