My xbox controller frequently says it is unplugged and i have to press a before continuing play. Can this be fixed?

all i did to fix mine was i unscrewed the screws on the back of the controller and took the wire going from the controller to the port and pulled it out of the top a little bit and put it back together and it worked fine after that.
