My Wharfedale DVD750S is jerky when playing back NTSC material. Is this avoidable?

There are a number of reasons for jerky NTSC playback. As standard, the Wharfedale DVD750S is set up to play back in PAL mode – this can introduce problems. Changing the output format to ‘Auto’ cures this problem. Another reason for jerkiness on NTSC discs is 3:2 pulldown. This is a problem which affects 99% of players on the market and is due to the way 24fps film is converted for 30fps NTSC playback. There is no way around this problem, but for the most part it is not noticeable.
