My washing machine stopped using hot water recently only washes with cold please help?
There are two solenoids inside the machine which are controlled by the main knob/timer unit and temp setting control to allow cold and hot water in depending on the settings. I’m guessing the solenoid which opens up the hot water to the machine is bad… or the timer/temp setting control is bad….or a wiring issue but that’s rare. If you hubby can remove the back panel to access the solenoids (just follow the water lines inside), have him test for power at the hot water solenoid with an ohmeter/circuit tester. Or switch the wire leads from the hot to the cold solenoid and see if it works when the temp is set on hot. If power is getting to the solenoid, then the timer or temp control is bad…you’d have to test for power there to determine which one is inoperative. The solenoid and temp controls are fairly cheap and usually go out first…the main timer runs more and may not be worth fixing.
