My TTL reader doesn work! Whats wrong?

It could be several possible problems. The first thing to do is make sure you constructed the interface as described in the hardware section. Double check the data sheet for the reader you purchased. Make sure the correct input and outputs on the card reader, especially the DATA and CLK pins connect to the proper pins on the game port connector. Make sure there isn’t any solder between 2 contacts, shorting the system. Take a LED and touch it to the pins for 5V and GND on the game port connector you soldered on. Make sure it lights up when plugged in (IE you are getting power). The 2 most common problems are the reader is not being powered, or the wires from the TTL reader are not connected to the correct pins on the DB-15.
