My Test Came back Negative…….. but can I still be pregnant?
My period is actually 17 days late today. I have taken about 10 test and they are all negative. I feel that I am pregnant as I have most of the signs, sensitive to smell, nausea, etc. My advice would be to wait a bit and test again in the morning. If still negative go to the doc, they will probably do another test there, and if that one comes back negaitive, they will probably look into reasons as why you could be late. Another thing if you have a low HCG level (as I do) you might not even show a postive for a long time. with my son I think I was about 1.5 months after my missed period when I finally got a positive.
Yes you can get a false negative. These tests are based on hormone levels and yours may not have gotten high enough to register as yet. I would wait 24 to 48 hours and do another test. If that one comes back negative and if you have no other symptoms of pregnancy (tender breasts, nausea) I would just assume my period was late for some reason. Sometimes people just skip a period for no reason at all. A missed period could also be caused by stress or an increase in physical activity. If you are still worried about being pregnant go to your doctor and get a blood test this will usually show if you are pregnant by the time you are 14 days late.
