It is very important that all teachers mark coursework to the same standard. Every teacher who marks AS level or A2 level coursework must attend an annual agreement trial. At this meeting, teachers get guidance from the Coursework Moderator, who is responsible for ensuring standard marking for all CCEA AS level and A2 level coursework, and they practice marking projects from previous years. Once your teacher has completed marking the projects, a sample is sent to the Coursework Moderator. The Moderator checks the marking and can increase or decrease the marks awarded if the original marking is found to be too harsh or too easy. When the ICT Examining Team meets to decide on grades, additional samples of coursework from all centres are examined. The standard of marking is then checked to ensure it is the same across all centres and of a similar standard to previous years.
