First of all any petroleum product will draw out the color of your tattoo and fade it, or worse, leave it blotchy. Some tattooist recommend the Vaseline crap to get you back in so they can make more money. Underhanded but yes they do it. Use anti bacterial ointment for the first 1 or 2 days. Use lotion for the rest of the 2 week healing process. DO NOT OVER APPLY. DO NOT soak it in water, expose it to direct sunlight, or expose it to swimming pool or sauna water as it is heavily chlorinated and will damage your tattoo. Wear loose fitting clothing so that nothing rubs on it. Any lotion that does not contain petroleum, fragrances, or oil is good for your tattoo. I usually recommend Aveeno or Curel.
