To get a good representative sample of you overall water quality you need to sample near the center of your swimming area over a bottom area at your average depth. Other appropriate sampling sites could be heavily used areas around diving platforms or play features that attract a lot of activity. Regardless of where the sample is taken it should be obtained at least eighteen (18) inches (elbow deep) below the water surface for the best results. This will help exclude surface contaminants which may interfere with accurate fecal coliform plate counts.
