My sound card says it is MPU-401 compatible so why doesn it work with _______?
Most sounds card emulate the MPU-401 in UART (unintelligent) mode only, but some programs were written to utilize the MPU-401 in intelligent mode, which is not supported without a genuine MPU-401 interface. Anders M. Olsson has written a patch which enables many Sierra games to work with the MPU-401 port of a Sound Blaster (or compatible) card. For anything not covered by the patch, the only other option is to purchase a true Roland MPU-401 interface from a music store which specializes in MIDI gear. You can also do a search on the Internet.
