Yes, Karen. Malignant ascites in a person with stage IV pancreatic carcinoma is a sign that time is short. You are usually looking at the last couple of months – BUT – no doctor can predict exactly how long anyone has. I can just tell you that I’ve seen people in this situation many times, and most are in the last months. Very sorry. This is a type of cancer that we cannot treat effectively with current medicine.
