My scanner is connected to the COM port of my PC, but I cannot see any data that has been scanned. Whats wrong?
The application on your PC needs to know that the data is coming from the COM port. Please note that applications such as MS Word or Excel only accept input from the keyboard. You can use a program like Hyper Terminal to see the data. To begin, set the Terminal ID on your scanner to RS232 Communications by following the directions in your User Guide. Then modify the associated communication parameters in Hyper Terminal to match that of the application with regard to baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits, and flow control. My bar code scanner reads the sample codes for Code 39, but will not read the bar codes created with the bar code font on my PC. When you use a font to create a bar code, you must include the start and stop character (*). For example, to encode the number 12345, you need to type *12345*.
