This is not usually a problem. Due to the ‘pool drop’ nature of Indian rivers there is normally plenty of opportunity to recover after a swim. In most circumstances if you swim you will be in flat water within 50 meters. Some rivers however, are more continuous in nature and a reliable roll is more desirable.
