My refrigerator isn cooling and I know it needs freon or a compressor, what is that going to cost me?
A. First, 1 in only 500 refrigerators with cooling problems need freon or a compressor. Compressor replacement or freon being added is actually a “rare” event. There are many components on the refrigerator that are cheaper and more likely to malfunction, such as thermostats, timers, thermistors, adc boards, damper doors, evaporator fans, switches, sensors, control boards, heating element (yes, all refrigerators since the 80’s have a heating element), relays and more. These components can cause a compressor not to run. Most compressors are built strong and built to last! If, in the rare event that a compressor does need replacing cost is $600-$800 depending on brand/model and comes with a 3 year warranty. Q.
