The speaker indicators on the right hand side of the display are used to show what type of signal the receiver is receiving from that particular input. The graphic below shows every possible indicator which can be displayed on this receiver. With all speaker indicators shown the receiver will be receiving a 6.1 signal from the particular input. This will be the case if a DVD player is sending a 6.1sound track and is connected to the receiver using the digital inputs. If the receiver is receiving a stereo sound track from either the analog or digital connections the L and R speaker indicators will be shown. This will be the case with stereo signals from a CD player, DVD player, VCR, set top box and satellite box using either the analog or digital connections. Yamaha receivers are equipped with stereo and multi-channel DSP (Digital Signal Processing).
