6 Most of what happened to Michael in my novel Ludwig is based on well-researched fact. Michaels character was inspired by Bo Gritz the most decorated hero in the Viet Nam war who won 62 citations for bravery including two purple hearts. Gritz has also inspired many Hollywood films.
