My question is, why is it that a Notre Dame football game is shown on TV most Saturdays?
Answer Harry, Notre Dame has a contract with NBC to air their games, so even out of market areas across the country can still see the game. As for the bowl games, since Notre Dame is an independent and not linked to a conference like the Big Ten it is easier to get invited, also they are a huge money draw for whatever bowl game they are playing in. As for the BCS, Notre Dame has a rule written in for them, as long as they finish in the top 12 in the final BCS rankings they will go to a BCS bowl. Simply put, because of the long tradition and being one of the most popular college football schools they get special treatment.
