Possibly the mouse or keyboard cords were pulled on or pushed in to hard causing the connection to break contact with the motherboard. I work on pc’s and find this problem a lot. I sell the a usb connector with 2 cords going out for mouse and keyboard PS2 connection from 1 USB port. They can be found on Ebay for $1 or 2 and the cheap ones come with free shipping from Hong Kong 10 to 20 days shipping time. If you want one contact me.

Hmm the keyboard and mouse port might have been burned out. A computer tech using a loop-back plug could confirm this.
