My property is a small vacant lot, smaller than the town’s minimum 1 acre. Can I build on it?
• If your project is going to cost over $1,000.00, if it will add square footage to an existing building, requires plumbing and/or electrical work and inspections, or any new construction requires a building permit. You must get a permit prior to the start of any work. • Horses (and other farm animals) are considered “non-pets” and are permitted in all zones in Ossipee. • You may cut any trees on your property for personal use – up to 20 cords of fire wood or 10,000 board feet of lumber does not require a permit. Any timber cut over and above these amounts, requires an intent to cut. These forms are available at the town hall. (*Shoreline Protection Act requires cutting to be at least 250’ from high water mark.
