The print head has either failed or is unable to communicate with the printer. A failed print head will need to be replaced. The communication problem can sometimes be solved by cleaning the gold contacts on the side of the print head and on the inside of the print head carriage with a pencil eraser. Be gentle, and do not touch either contact area with your fingers.
