Federal regulations change. Loan for periods of enrollment prior to July 1, 2006 carried a variable interest rate. Loans for periods of enrollment after June 30, 2006 but until 7/1/08 carried a fixed interest rate of 6.8%. Loans for the 2008-09 academic year will carry a fixed 6% interest rate if the loan is federally-subsidized or 6.8% if the loan is unsubsidized.
