First of all, I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my son at 10 days old after his birth at 25 weeks, so I can empathize. As for whether or not to blame the colposcopy, you’ll never know what really caused you to deliver so early. The circulation to the cervix does increase dramatically during pregnancy, so it’s not uncommon to see bleeding after any manipulation of the cervix, gentle or not (I have weekly internal ultrasounds to measure my cervix and no matter how gentle the tech is, it can cause bleeding). It also takes a lot more than a poke (even a good poke) for your cervix to efface/thin and dilate — it’s all driven by hormones. It’s not likely that the colposcopy alone caused you to efface and dilate, but could have contributed. In my case, I was carrying twins, and one died inside around 23 weeks. My body tried to “reject” the dead fetus and I went into labor. I had some signs — spotting/bleeding, painless contractions — but when I went to see my doctor, he didn’t even do an i
