If the pH and the alkalinity in your pool water are allowed to increase over the recommended levels a white filmy substance will appear on the pool surface. This build up is sometimes referred to as scale and will cause the pool surface to be rough and blotchy. Dirt can even get trapped under the scale build up if it is not removed right away. Scale build up can happen on any pool finish, but it is more noticeable on a colored surface because it is a white against a dark surface and therefore it is easier to see. Cements inherent characteristics can also be more prevalent on colored surfaces. Colored pool surfaces if properly maintained will look beautiful.
