My partner/spouseemployee has agreed to take a Polygraph Examination [lie detector]how accurate is it and can it be fooled?
A. The Polygraph machine is accurate to 97.5% which in application means that if 100 questions were asked the may be a possibility of 2.5 of answers being subject to a discrepancy, in other words for the purposes of the test it is totally accurate. It cannot be fooled into giving a positive result to a false or contrived answer. The machine is also calibrated at the time of the test to take into consideration such things as high blood pressure, nerves, irregular breathing and any other problem the subject might or might not be experiencing prior to the test. Our examiner is one of only four qualified in the UK.
