My owners manual recommends using an API CF-4 oil – can I get any benefit from using a higher performance oil?
Yes – your engine is probably of an older design when CF-4 was ‘state-of-the-art’. All engines can benefit from the technology advances made since CF-4 was developed, in particular CH-4 represents a significant improvement in protection against wear, deposit and sludge formation and handling of soot and other contaminants. In addition, being designed for use in today’s higher power engines means that products such as Rimula X and Rimula Super are more resistant to thermal breakdown under the most severe conditions. As a rule – it is best to use the highest quality of oil you can afford to ensure maximum protection under all operating conditions.
