My organization’s long-term disability (LTD) costs are decreasing. What benefit would there be in completing the questionnaire?
Watson Wyatt’s 2007 Canadian Staying@Work Survey shows that companies are generally seeing their LTD costs decrease from just two years ago; however, short-term disability prevalence rates for mental health conditions and turnover rates are both increasing. One-third of respondents leaving their employer cited stress in the workplace as the primary reason. An advantage of the OCM is that it shows more items than just absences and health care costs: Turnover and presenteeism are also included. This additional information could lead an organization to conclude that a more thorough examination might be cost beneficial regardless of the state of its LTD program.
