My new born kitten has a swollen discolored back limb, what do i do?
Though I agree, the kittens need vet care, possibly mom too, I just want to say that I sympathize with your plight. I have 8 cats, all rescued as bottle babies from a kill shelter, or brought to me by individuals that run Trap/Neuter/Release programs — they’re all neutered/spayed, but years ago I took a couple of 3-4 month old kittens to be spayed/neutered… the female was already pregnant. From the reaction of your mom cat, I’m guessing that she may be young too. Because I have had all of my babies since they were hours, days or just a couple of weeks old, and I foster about 20 bottle babies each year, I’ve had to accept the responsibility of their veterinary care — for respiratory infections, for an amputation of a limb (a 2 week old kitten that was found under a pile of rocks), maggots in open wounds, and other assorted ailments and injuries. Currently I have a newborn that was found at a feral colony today by one of the TNR program representatives; the mom is reported to have a
